Heeeee, don't tell the newspapers Marek ;

And yes Huz, I know what you mean about that scientist. I also get annoyed when I take a photo of the floor, and it has like a pixel of an animal and I send it to her and she's all "WOW! Thanks!"

It is a great feeling when you send her a well-taken picture, though, and she's like "omg, I thought this was extinct!" I feel all David Attenborough.

Seriously though, I think BGAE is the first game where you play a reporter and actually have an incentive to take photo's of things. I love it :D

Hmmmm. Games don't make people kill, but they do make people take up photography! Hurray!

Agreed, Tones! It's a great way to get you to explore the game-world, too. I think it's also a shame that Wind Waker's photography element was so tedious. Spoilers ahead, by the way...

OK, so Wind Waker gave you the opportunity to take snaps of various objects and creatures, but to get the benefit you had to hike all the way out to the Nintendo museum - only potentially to be told that your photo was no good! It would have been nice to have had a more instantaneous feedback system. Filling the Nintendo museum with figurines was a worthy goal but I doubt anyone ever managed it. Personally, I took snaps of the characters I was interested in (for the background info) and that was that. :~

Speaking of background info, the BG&E system is great, but I think it would have encouraged me even more to take lots of photos if the scientist-woman had had unique things to say about every species - not just certain ones. I'm getting a bit fed up of her "Great, Jade, keep up the good work!" spiel now. I still keep seeking out those creatures though. ;

The game certainly is great... I just wish there were more games with photography as a key element. I remember the time I spent chasing a whale so I could get that perfect picture... or the time I saw a constellation in the sky, and I thought it was some bird, and spent about an hour sailing around with my lens at the sky trying to find it again. Happy days :~
