That is not what Twitter is about. The whole &quot;what are you doing?&quot; thing is, frankly, something which gets people off on completely the wrong footing with Twitter. 

You&#039;re thinking about it as a one way, &quot;being nosey&quot; thing but it isn&#039;t, it&#039;s more like a great big mass of conversation in a huge room where you will wander through and chance upon a conversation being had by people who you have common interests with or that you feel you can add something to, and so you build this network of follow/followees which depending on how you manage it can be a quite fulfilling and even rewarding excercise.

Of course, the only way to discover this is to use it because as with most things, you only get out of it what you put in into it!
